She dances along the shore line making

an S into the distance where dark and light

battle for possession of the sky,

storm and calm, energy and repose,

while the ceaseless sea contests the right of earth to be,

so gently she doesn't notice,

so quietly she thinks the beach

was cleared for her dance,

the dunes pushed up to seat the audience,

the big sky hung as a backdrop

for the pageant she dances

unaware of anything but movement.
